1994 Audi RS 2 Avant for sale
What you’re looking at here is a very rare and unique performance car. This Audi RS 2 Avant was one of only 2891 RS 2 models to be built. What makes it even rarer is that it’s RHD, which only 180 were built. The owner of this particular model says that there’s around five in Australia.
The Audi RS 2 has become an iconic car due to it being the first ‘RS’ vehicle, and the fact it was a collaborative effort between Audi and Porsche. The engine is a 2.2-litre turbocharged inline five-cylinder 20-valve petrol unit producing 232kW. The high power (high for 1994) was thanks to a large turbo, a heavy-duty intercooler, high-flow injectors, a bespoke set of camshafts, a Bosch ECU and a low-pressure exhaust system.
Performance wise, in factory trim, the RS 2 could shoot from 0-100km/h in just 4.8-seconds and hit a top speed of 262km/h. This was enough pace for it to sit neck and neck with a Chevrolet C5 Corvette and a 996 Porsche 911. The brake system and suspension was where Porsche really flexed its muscles, giving the Audi B4 platform the handling and stopping ability of a high-end sports car. Even the wheels were Porsche Cup items.
This particular RS 2 wears Ragusa Green and was originally from Somerset, United Kingdom. The vehicle was apparently a single owner vehicle for all of its life up until 2014 when the current owner took it into their possession. Buyers can have peace of mind knowing the car comes with extensive history including original order, sales receipt, sales brochure, delivery receipt, logbooks and service and repair receipts from new.
All suspension and driveline bushes have been replaced, as have the shocks, springs and uprights. Other parts of the car that have received attention include the brakes, timing belt, water pump, and coolant hoses. At all four corners there’s Michelin Pilot Sport 3 tyres, and from the turbo back there’s a new stainless steel Jet-X exhaust system from UK.
The owner states in the ad that “the car is mechanically excellent and has a raw, but refined feel and once again”, and that it “drives and handles as well as it did in 1995 when it left the Porsche Factory in Zuffenhausen”.
