New BMW 8 Series teaser released, due in 2018

Not since At BMW’s Annual General Meeting, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG Harald Krüger announced the arrival of a new concept car. This news comes after news that the BMW 6 Series will cease production.

The BMW Group will present a design study at this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on 26 May 2017 which provides an exclusive look ahead to the BMW 8 Series Coupe slated for 2018. The concept car teaser shows lines that are more inline with a larger coupe than the current generation 6 Series.

Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG Harald Krüger, said:

“The BMW 8 Series Coupe will build on our tradition of luxurious sports coupes and add a genuine dream car to our line-up – a slice of pure automotive fascination. The 8 Series Coupe will underpin our claim to leadership in the luxury segment. I can tell you today that this will be a true luxury sports coupe.”

The last BMW 8 Series was built from 1989 through to 1999, and was sold locally in Australia in 84oCi, 850i, 850Ci, and 850CSi. All 840Ci models came with a V8 engine while the 850 models came with a V12.
