2018 Renault ZOE now available to private buyers, priced from $47,490
Renault Australia has announced that the all-electric ZOE is now available to private customers. Previously, the small electric car was only available to fleet buyers.
Both models are powered by an electric motor that produces 68kW and 220Nm, with power sent to the front wheels via a one-speed transmission. The ZOE has a top speed of 135km/h and can scoot from 0-100km/h in 14.5 seconds.
Standard equipment includes a 7.0-inch R-Link touch-screen media system that comes with satellite navigation, digital radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. Moving up to the Intens variant adds 16-inch alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, auto headlights and wipers, and a reversing camera.
Renault claims the small electric car has a range of 300km for combined driving, or 200km in city-only conditions. In terms of charging the ZOE from empty to full capacity, buyers can expect to wait 15 hours using a 3kW single-phase 16A socket, 7.5 hours using a single-phase 7kW 32A socket, or 160 minutes using a 22kW three-phase 32A socket.
Commenting on the announcement, Andrew Moore, Managing Director Renault Australia, said:
“We have taken a measured approach to our roll-out of electric vehicles locally, in line with customer demand in Australia. Our initial roll-out was to focus our discussions directly with forward-thinking fleets who want to incorporate an electric vehicle into their existing fleet of vehicles.
“As at the end of June 2018, our sales to fleet customers this year have surpassed our initial sales projections. Along with demand from customers, we’ve experienced positive interest from within our dealer network of existing Renault dealers who wish to expand their product offering and become Renault electric vehicle specialists.”
Renault announced its ‘Drive the Future 2022’ plan in October 2017, which will see Groupe Renault committed to having eight pure electric and 12 electrified models as part of their range.
Renault Australia has expanded its electric vehicle dealer network to four dealerships nationally, including Sydney City Renault, Barry Bourke Renault in Melbourne, Unley Renault in Adelaide, and Melville Renault in Perth. Renault says that all four dealerships have undergone specialist training and are ready to answer questions about electric cars.
The dealer network network is set to expand with a second dealer in Melbourne and Sydney, along with new electric vehicle specialists in Brisbane, Canberra and Hobart.
The 2018 Renault ZOE is covered by a three-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and four years roadside assistance, as well a five years/100,000km warranty on the car’s battery system.
