2019 Hyundai Santa Fe now on sale in Australia from $43,000

Hyundai Australia has announced pricing and specs for the 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. The all-new SUV will come in three grades, including Active, Elite, and Highlander.

The all-new fourth-generation model introduces a host of new safety features, an increase in cabin space, fresh design cues, and a new all-wheel drive system called HTRAC.

Occupants now have more leg and head room compared with the previous model, as well as a “walk-in” switch which allows “effort-free” folding of the second row for easy third-row access. Elite and Highlander models come with a power tailgate that opens automatically when it detects the smart key.

Mums and dads on the go with appreciate the new 7.0-inch touch-screen (which jumps up to an 8.0-inch in the Elite and Highlander), with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also as standard equipment across the range.

Hyundai’s SmartSense suite comes standard across all three variants and includes safety systems such as forward collision-avoidance assist, smart cruise control with stop and go, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision, driver attention warning, high beam assist, and lane keeping assist.

Hyundai Australia says that during development of the new Santa Fe the team evaluated various front and rear suspension damper builds, as well as different front and rear spring rates, completing thousands of kilometres on a variety of surfaces. Hyundai Motor Company Australia, senior manager product planning, Andrew Tuitahi, said:

“First and foremost it had to be comfortable for families; it had to be safe with good recovery after big bumps, and we sprinkled in some fun-to-drive.”

The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe Active comes standard with a 138kW/241Nm 2.4-litre GDi petrol four-cylinder and six-speed automatic, with the 147kW/440Nm 2.2 CRDi turbo-diesel and eight-speed automatic combination a $3000 premium. Both the Elite and Highlander are exclusively fitted with the turbo-diesel engine and eight-speed automatic. All models come standard with Hyundai’s new HTRAC all-wheel drive system.

Average fuel consumption for the Active petrol model is rated at 9.3L/100km, while all other diesel models are rated at 7.5L/100km.

Hyundai Motor Company Australia, chief executive officer, Mr JW Lee, said:

“The 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe is an eye-catching and technologically advanced new generation model that has grown into a family favourite over four generations and almost two decades on the market.

“Santa Fe delivers a long list of cutting-edge active safety features as standard across the range, powerful and efficient petrol and turbo-diesel engines, handsome style, family-friendly versatility, and value for money, with a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty and Lifetime Service Plan. Santa Fe is an advanced, safe and stylish SUV to complement an active family lifestyle.”
